NoMad: NYC’s Hottest New Neighborhood Announces Its Arrival

The NoMad District in Manhattan is home of A-Listers such as Jennifer Lopez, Tom Brady, Jeff Gordon and some of the best restaurants, fitness studios, hotels and shopping in New York City.

On Monday, October 2, business leaders and luminaries from the NoMad District and beyond gathered at the Gansevoort Park Hotel to celebrate the progress of NoMad and to help raise funds for expanding the work of the NoMad Alliance. Guests enjoyed the best NoMad has to offer — delicious food, fabulous music and a terrific group of the energetic, creative and fun people that personify the neighborhood.

The Tastes of NoMad were brought to the event by some of the best restaurants in the area. The amazing food items included BBQ Braised Short Rib Sliders and The NOMAD Cocktail from Black Barn Chef-Owner John Doherty; Mac & Cheese from Executive Chef Susan Burdian of The Flatiron Room; Pomegranate Dahi Poori thanks to Chef Anita Jaisinghani of Pondicheri; and delicious NoMad Tart from Chef Cruz Goler of La Pecora Bianca; and delicious assorted rolls from Sushi Fussion.

The event was also a showcase of some of the wonderful businesses involved doing business in NoMad, with sponsorship coming from Flag Luxury Group, Meridian Capital Group The Redbury New York, New York Community Bank, breather, Cooper-Horowitz, Katten, David Lubarsky Photography, the Gansevoort Park Hotel, Kew Management and The Jazz Gallery.

The evening spotlighted the sounds and tastes of NoMad. Grammy award-winning Jazz musician Frank Catalano lead the entertainment. The saxophonist, heralded by Downbeat Magazine for supplying “John Coltrane energy for the 21st Century,” delivered two dynamic sets that captivated the audience.

With NoMad’s legacy of Tin Pan Alley and The Jazz Loft at 821 Sixth (a legendary after-hours hangout for musicians like Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis and Charles Mingus) it was only appropriate that Jazz music would be a focus for the celebration. In addition to Frank Catalano, jazz musicians Camila Meza and Noam Wiesenberg, curated by The Jazz Gallery (one of the sponsors for This Is NoMad), also kept the beautiful sounds flowing through the night.

As wonderful as the evening was for everyone in attendance, the talk of the night was focused on NoMad’s future.
